Looks to be really nice. There were so many flies that we could not walk the trail. Maybe at a different time of year, it would be better, but we literally had to leave.
Winter ❄️ Wonderland - January 2023 fresh snowfall over Welton’s Gorge - a hidden gem within Geauga County
Nice flat loop trail with overlooks to the gorge. Gorge hikes are only done by the park naturalists.
The Geauga Parks do a great job with the trails, maintenance, and cleanliness. This seemed like a newer park. Although we didn't use it, it had a large pavilion with electricity, many picnic tables and a grill. The trail was neat, and we brought the dog to hike the loop. Total mileage was about 2.1 miles of pretty easy hiking, but there is a gradient if you're not used to it. They built overlooks to look at the gorge. There is also an abandoned chimney and fireplace that was cool to look at. Part of the loop trail is not in the woods and it got pretty hot without the trees to block the sun, but it's definitely worth a visit.
A newer park in Geauga and a work in progress. It's pretty great for just taking a quiet walk and taking in some scenery. The birds are really vocal here too.
