I had been craving for a tasty sub sandwich for quite some time, and thankfully, my colleague PS just happened to order from Penn Station for lunch today. This piqued my interest, so I picked his brain about his experience. After weighing my options and hearing about his gargantuan 2000-calorie lunch featuring a large Cheesesteak sub sandwich and a large drink, I opted for a healthier choice: the vegetarian Grilled Artichoke sandwich paired with a side of small fries and a small drink. The online ordering process was speedy and hassle-free.
Upon arriving at the restaurant a bit earlier than the scheduled pickup time, I found only a couple of patrons already seated. A friendly young gentleman promptly greeted me and confirmed my online order. I didn't have to wait long at all before my order was ready, and I settled into a corner table to savor my meal. The sandwich came in a plain paper bag, and I could feel its warmth emanating from within. I ordered the Regular Grilled Artichoke sandwich with light mayo, extra fresh mushroom, no cheese, and multigrain bread. The sandwich was warm and exuded a delightful, earthy yet savory aroma. After taking my first bite, I immediately savored the unique flavor and texture of the grilled artichoke and the satisfying crunch of the bread. This was only my second time eating artichoke, the first time was in a creamy spinach artichoke dip that my coworker SS brought to a party, though I didn't have much of it because of all the cheese. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. The grilled artichoke took it to another level, offering a fibrous yet tender bite with a light crunch. The mushroom wasn't very flavorful but contributed a rich, soft texture. The mayo sauce provided a bold yet honest finishing touch. The well-toasted multigrain bread had a crispy outer layer and a soft, absorbent inner layer that perfectly melded all of the ingredients together. Every bite of this sandwich was incredibly satisfying. The small fries were plentiful and stayed thin and crispy. I enjoyed them with ketchup, because let's be honest, fries go with pretty much anything. Every so often, I took a sip of the "Fresh Squeezed Lemonade," which, as far as I could tell, was not actually freshly squeezed and far from authentic. However, I didn't expect genuine, freshly squeezed lemonade from a fast food joint, so I didn't mind too much. It was cold and refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness. It felt more like a soda drink than a juice drink. One of the staff member noticed me sitting alone in a quieter corner and struck up a pleasant conversation. I was surprised yet delight by this spontaneous and unscripted interaction.
The restaurant itself is small but can seat around 20 people. Everything was clean and smelled fine. The decor primarily features images of sub sandwiches, which is to be expected. The counter has several shelves stocked with snacks and additional drinks. Although the food was delicious, I felt like the portions were a bit small for the price with the sandwich alone costing $10. However, I could tell that the food was made fresh and with care, so I was willing to pay a bit more for quality.
Before leaving the restaurant, I decided to use the restroom to wash my hands. While it was clean, the soap dispenser was nearly empty. I made do with whatever soap I could get out of it and desperately looked for some paper towels, only to find that there were none. Luckily, my shirt came to the rescue, and I was able to dry my hands off before leaving. The parking lot was now quite crowded, and it was difficult to find a space.
Overall, I had a great experience at Penn Station, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious sub sandwich. Special thanks to my coworker PS for walking me through the ordering process and recommending an item, even though I ultimately went for something completely different!

This is a goto spot for me. Grant and his team always make you feel welcome. They are prompt at taking your order and the food comes out hot and fresh.

I have been going to this location for the past 20 years (I think. In any case it's been an awfully long time). We started going because of the food. We all love the cheesesteak. But more recently the reason we keep returning is the staff. In particular the manager, Amy. She's been taking great care of us for 5+ years. She makes going out to eat feel like dining with fiends! She remembers our names and our orders. They are always crazy busy, but still still pauses and shares a greeting and a smile in the midst of the chaos.

There are a ton of choices in the area, but the reason we keep coming back to P.S. is Amy. We will be returning as long as she's there to take care of us. I hope the ownership is taking good care of her because she's the person who makes the restaurant a special place for us.

Tara and I hope she stays there another 5. Thanks Amy!
