Our guide, Eric, was very knowledgeable about the history of the home and surrounding areas and all the home's prior residents. He had interesting anecdotes and cheerfully answered our many questions. The home itself had alot of items that were original and you could get up close to most of them for a good look. We were on the last tour of the day, but we were not rushed along and felt like Eric would have answered questions for alot longer. He clearly loves sharing this home's history.
The tour was great for adults but probably not very exciting for children under 12.
What a hidden gem! The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the history of the home and families involved in its existence. Absoulutely the best $4 I spent in a long time. Please tip your tour guides, they appreciate it.
Very cool place, lots of interesting history. Very polite and informative guides. I would definitely recommend checking it out. Keep up the great work!
Hidden gem in Massillon, Ohio. Registered with the National Park system, this family home is registered on the Underground Railroad network. The staff is incredible, check website (call or email) to make reservations or check availability, incredible information and knowledge of the family and property is shared on your tour. Beautiful home. A passport stamp for the NP Passport Book is available here.
Spring Hill is a great destination for a field trip. Our Mantua Historical Society went there today & had a wonderful tour by Kayla Metzger, the Site Manager. Don't miss the hidey-hole the runaway slaves hid in!
