fossils, so much information on the area’s history, animal hides/pelts, a theater showing a movie on the history, turtles, small gifts and shirts, and more! we stopped here just for the restrooms and a fossil permit but stayed much longer! they sell vinyl stickers for $2 or $1 depending on the design!
Really nice amd interesting..The guy that worked there was real friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area, the park for camping as well as the small museum within. It has ancient trilobite shells and other old I treating artifacts. If you are going camping or fishing, you should stop in the visitor center and take a peek at the trilobite shells..;) millions of years old...;)
Quite surprised how nice and informative this visitor center is. Loads of information about the area, and there is a dam overlook and short trail that goes down to the water, looping back around to the center. They do have lots of pamphlets with upcoming events. Also if you are here make sure to drive around to the Pioneer cabins on the other side of the lake.
Had a wonderful time here. There is so much to do fishing, camping, boating, there is an old historical village, you can get a permit and hunt fossils and so much more. The visitor center is very informative and the staff was super friendly. I highly recommend for a day trip if you get a chance it's well worth the experience.
This is a very nice facility with hiking trails and picnic areas at the site. The Visitor Center has many interesting displays on the history of the area and the very helpful rangers can answer your questions about the park. The lake overlook platform is a very nice place to take fall photos. The trails nearby are well maintained and very colorful in mid October. The little nearby pond is also very scenic.
