Muskogee War Memorial Park: Home of the USS Batfish

Omg I loved it but what makes me sad is the submarine it's still closed to the public but overall it was awesome definitely coming back again

Great experience, it's a very informative the man in charge built a lot of the exhibits. He is very knowledgeable on the submarines including the batfish

Even though the boat itself is closed, the rest of the memorial is still open Friday to Sunday! There's more to see than just the Batfish, including over a dozen different artifacts ranging from torpedoes, to naval mines, to 5-inch naval guns, and more! The volunteer there was extremely friendly and was happy to answer any questions I had.
If you're visiting I recommend donating extra, as entry is only $3/person at the moment due to the submarine's closure, and they're trying to raise funds in preparation to move her to a permanent, more submarine friendly, location down the Arkansas River.

Very informative and interesting. Lots of original memorabilia both inside and outside to peruse. The only downside is that being in a flood plain, you cannot get onto the ship at this time as it’s not safe to. The volunteer Curator said there are federal funds allotted to secure it, but won’t happen overnight.
PS— we saw a bald eagle overhead too.

A charming little museum in the town where squares can definitely have a ball! The best part of this visit was James A. Erb, Jr. He is a POW survivor with an amazing story which I won't spoil, but get him to tell them to you if you visit. There was also the submarine which is currently no visitable. You still can get a good external view of it though and go out and walk around it. This place has a tribute to every U.S. submarine that has fallen with a detailed story of the ship's adventures and her crew's service for those downed during World War I. The museum itself is manageably sized with a side room featuring some hands=on exhibits. Be aware of the Friday- and Weekend- only hours! I would recommend this museum for any history buffs and military history history buffs especially.
