I am a researcher and developer of pharmaceutical drugs. I run a biotech group in Oklahoma city that develops natural products for inflammation control. My journey into pain started 12 years ago with progressive symptoms of muscle weakness and neuropathic pain that finally landed me with a diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth syndrome.
Over the last decade I had progressed from mild pain medications with Physical therapy to heavy duty opioids that progressively began to lose their ability to allow me to function on a daily basis. My last pain management doctor pushed me to try implantable tens or implantable medication options. The trials of each of those were not promising and I'm grateful that I did not proceed with either of those two options.
In frustration I reached out to Dr Kelley and he was actually excited to take me on as a patient, encouraging me with interventional strategies that I had not heard of before.
When I finally signed on to his practice a few months back Dr Kelly took a real hands on approach to my care and surprised me with a medication regime that scaled back my opioid use and dug me out of a pit of despair I was feeling in regards to my prognosis.
Today I am utterly grateful for the thoughtful approach Dr Kelly applies to my medical needs. I am on a medication regimen that lowered my need for opioid interventions to a combination therapy that is both novel and very effective. In the last 4 months I have regained hope over my prognosis and don't feel like I am in a dead end in my life.
