They have been so consistently wonderful during COVID-19 with great health protocols and of course, amazing coffee!
Top-notch baristas and service, very friendly. Large so it doesn't fill up easy. Very good pour-over. Fair prices. Clean. Clean and friendly service is somewhat rare in Portland coffee.
Portland is full of tons of small independent coffee shops, and I've been to many of them, but Red E is easily my absolute favorite. It checks every box for what I feel makes a great coffee shop. The atmosphere is relaxing, inclusive, and welcoming, with pieces by local artists (which are available to purchase if one really speaks to you!), cozy seating, two chess tables, and a quiet, laid back vibe. The food is delicious, and they have awesome breakfast sandwiches, including vegetarian options! This was especially exciting for me, because I nearly never find those, and when I do they're usually very basic. But Red E has more than one vegetarian sandwich, and they're amazing! The staff is super friendly, and remembered me on my second visit. And of course, most importantly, the coffee and teas are so so SO good. Their seasonal drinks are to die for. It's a great day for me when I get to head out there on the weekend and sit back with a honey cardamom latte and a Catch Up sandwich, and grab a rad button on the way out for my collection. To make a (very) long story short, Red E is a must-try, and guaranteed to brighten your day.
They is a nice little neighborhood cafe! Very friendly staff and they know how to make great speciality drinks! I recommend there iced summer collection! Seems like it is a better place to go to meet someone and not work on anything. Could go either though! I would go back and recommend to anyone.
When I first stepped in I thought it was an art gallery you can see some pictured here. The cafe is neat and warm. I was here on a weekday afternoon between 2-3pm and there was plenty of seating. I ate a mushroom cheese biscuit and cappuccino. Both were delicious, the biscuit was so flavorful and flaky. There were plenty of outlets so I could imagine myself working from there. A great place to have a conversation as there wasn't loud music preventing one from doing so.

Keith Miller and I opened our flagship North Portland cafe on N. Killingsworth Street in 2009 after years of planning and searching for just the right place. We were happy to be able to serve coffee in the neighborhood we've called home for over a decade. We arrived in Oregon in 1996, after cycling across […]
