This place rocks. I won't go anywhere else.
I had a very positive experience working with the new owner, Chris on some purchases and consignments. They are good people.
I will miss this shop I always had a great experience! I remember one of the first time I went in to buy some 22LR ammo and hunting ammo. My son(5 years old) asked if we were getting darts(ammo, he likes nuft guns), I said "yep then were going shooting".... the owner saw how happy my son was and just gave us the boxes of 22 ammo.... it wasnt much but it meant a lot. There are less and less "old fashion" gun shops....
Great shop, I am not part of the hang out club, but have purchased a number of fire arms there and if Marcus doesn't have it, he will get it for you. Always fair and friendly, not many shops like this anymore, sad. WLD
I have bought several guns from Al's and from the last two owners. When you talk to people behind the counter they know what they are talking about. I can't say this about most places. Al's also sells used guns and has guns on consignment ow which some are very interesting, custom and elaborate. When I shop at other stores they carry low end stuff and only in a few locations do they have competent people working. I really don't know of another place that also repairs guns and can make parts for them. I had a browning safari that had a bad screw in it. He made me a new one to match. No CHARGE! Is there a place in the Portland Metro area that can do this? If you have not been to Al's you are missing and you need to check in weekly because he does get some of that rare ammo and very interesting stuff shows up in the shop. As they say there. The good ones don't last.
