This a beautiful and well-designed park for easy to intermediate level hiking. The trails are clearly marked. I especially like how every trail branch has a mini map of the whole park so that your can really know where you are. There is plenty of park and clean restrooms at the trailhead. The views are stunning! We practically had the place to ourselves on a weekday morning.

My first time here. Wife and I were in Gaston, Oregon looking for a quiet place to eat our lunch. The park is very quiet, and well thought out. They have bathrooms, and lots of picnic tables. Also a large area for horses. About 8 miles of trails for horses, bikes, and pedestrians. Was glad to see a drinking fountain so we could fill our water bottles. May come back again and explore some trails.

Beautiful new park with lovely, well maintained forested trails for hiking, biking, and equestrians. Some trails are for hikers and bikers only. Lots of nice benches for resting along the way or just taking in the sights and sounds. Trails are easy-moderate.

Warning about the drive to the park: There is NO signage along the way to this park that I saw, and I got a bit nervous when I found myself bumping along a gravel road in a pretty remote part of Washington County. But then I went around a bend and the park was suddenly RIGHT THERE. It would be easy to miss the turn, but hard to miss the park itself, with its big parking lot and two large picnic shelters.

The drive there was beautiful with very little traffic, which led to the worry that it was a tiny place or that it didn't exist. Our worries were unfounded. With a very full parking lot, it was obvious that the place is popular. The park is gorgeous and well maintained, as are the trails. There are paths of varying difficulty. We chose the simplest to start, and we were not disappointed. It was a wonderful, easy climb, with lots of fantastic viewpoints and sights to see.

Went out today, Saturday January 29th, 2022 with my brother and we took a network of trails finally landing at the overlook looking west. The Mampa Trail Overlook was our destination and it was a frosty walk at 9am…..burrrrr. Very impressed at the condition of the trails, wide, firm, well groomed. On one of the trails I noticed a bird flying to our right and it was a Barred Owl, how cool is that? The trails are very easy for the seasoned hiker and challenging for those who are not hikers but strollers. We got there early around 9am and perhaps 5 cars in the parking lot but when we got back there were only 3 parking spaces left.
( Photos taken at the park were with an IPhone 11) so I couldn’t get a pic of the Barred owl.

New favorite park for sure, nicer than Tualatin Nature Park or Cooper Mountain. No highway close by to hear vehicles so that was awesome.

UPDATE: Made it to the end of the Trail up on Madrone Trail…….foggy, chilly, muddy, saw 2 more owls, a Doe and her yearling, lots of shrooms, elves, sprites, pixies, fairies the occasional Ogre and Unicorn….pretty cool. Well the last 6 may be fibbing…..lol.
Friday Feb 4th very quiet just 20 cars in parking lot. Very few people on the Trail😀😀😀😀😀

Have come out here multiple times, seen plenty of wildlife, today I saw a Stoat which is a member of the weasel family but could be wrong. Saw another Owl yesterday, a coyote, a bunch of Stellar Jays hounding a hawk in a tree and several Pileated Woodpeckers. Favorite Park in the Portland Metro area for sure.

The most recent photos were taken today January 20th, 2023 where my brother and I came here this morning around 10:30am and squeezed in a 4 miler before work. The lichen looked so vibrant, did not see any owls, there were only several vehicles there when we arrived. It was very foggy coming out from Hillsboro but well worth the walk through the quiet forested wood.
