  If your family has done their research about the needs of gifted kids, you will recognize at once that this school checks all the boxes. This exceptional community provides that almost-mythical environment of ability-matched peers who "get" each other's sense of humor and insatiable love of learning. Attention to the individual needs of each child is paramount, and students are encouraged to progress at their own level of mastery. We have had two very different children attend Altair, and both of them are thriving in inspiringly different ways.

  Our child has blossomed at Altair, among social, creative and intellectual peers who share his passions and like him for what makes him unique. The teachers are kind, funny, and engaged, and clearly love working with gifted kids. They meet him where he is, letting him soar where he's strong and providing the accommodations he needs for his learning differences. We're very lucky to have found this school!

  I feel so fortunate to have found Altair for my daughter. Public school had been going just fine, but with the large class sizes there was no way for teachers to individualize instruction in the way she needed. The classrooms were loud, making it hard for her to concentrate. Too often she rushed through too-easy assignments in favor of reading.
  
  At Altair, she found her passion for learning again. She loved her teachers and all that they taught, even subjects she hadn't been so interested in before. She came out of her shell and even became something of a leader, much to my surprise. The tiny class sizes are like a cross between homeschooling and public school, truly the best of both worlds. I had wondered how well the mixed age classrooms would work. Because there are so few students in each class, the teachers have time to give each one just what he or she needs. My daughter has now moved on to a public middle school focus program, for which she feels well-prepared after her two years at Altair. This school was exactly the sort of education I had wanted for her, but never dreamed actually existed!
  
  If you are interested, Altair hosts informational meetings every few months (see website), and prospective students can also come for a visit during school hours to see whether Altair is a good fit for them.

  Altair is more than just a great school; it is a place where each child is understood and celebrated. My two children who attend have very different personalities and learning needs, and both have found their home in the "Altair family". Altair combines the individual attention and family focus usually found only in home schooling with daily social connections and extraordinary, professional teachers. I am lucky to have found a place where my children's advanced academic skills can be recognized and reinforced, and their weaknesses addressed in a non-judgmental manner, all while retaining the playful innocence of childhood.

  Both of our boys attend Altair, and it's been amazing for them socially, emotionally and academically. Their classmates are kind and supportive. If one child is frustrated or having a bad day, the other children will rally around them with encouraging words and a hug. The teachers are beyond amazing. These are teachers who see and appreciate each child as an individual, and they go the extra mile to bring out the best in my children. My kids LOVE school now.
