John is genuinely a great guy, fun to talk to and amazing at his craft.
Fantastic selection of my two favorite things, black walnut and quarter-sawn white. Great service and fantastic quality.
BCH is one of the best shops to buy rough cut lumber or raw and finished pieces. John and his young staff are passionate about the wood they have on site. They are very knowledgeable and willing to help you, with just the right piece or pieces, you are looking for, to complete your next wood/furniture project. I have seen some of the most beautiful table tops, counter/desk tops, conference table tops and unique wall hangings, come from this business. They really take pride in their craftmanship, discuss finishes with their clients and offer great customer service!
The best, most knowledgeable place to buy rough cut lumber along with raw and finished pieces. John loves his craft and is awesome at it.
BCH is the greatest! John (the owner) is a gem of a guy - one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, and is an excellent sawyer with a great young staff that are eager to help with whatever It is I need.
BCH has a lot of dimensional hardwood from 3/4 all the way up to 12-16/4 - there a a few exotic species to be found, such as Sapele, but John specializes in domestics such as hard and soft maple, ash, poplar, red and white oak, and cherry.
However, BCHs real speciality is flitch sawn slabs - especially black walnut. Johns been chasing walnut for many years, and has some truly tremendous pieces from small coffee table sized chips all the way up to conference table sized monsters. The pieces are sawn with great care to maximize the beautiful grain and irregularities that make walnut slabs so stunning - something that requires a lot of skill and experience to pull off.
John provides lumber for some of the countries best woodworkers, but what makes BCH such a fantastic place is that you’ll get the same level of help and attention if you’re a newbie looking for 10bf to make a single piece of furniture that a buyer looking to pick up 15 giant slabs gets.
So overall, if you’re looking for hardwood lumber in the Tri State area, BCH is 1000% worth a visit!
