I have been going for many years, very good place to learn manners, get fit, and learn to defend yourself.
Our son has been a part of the Makoto family since third grade, he's now in high school. We have stayed in the program for this many years because of the values that have been imparted to our son among them are hard work, helping others, and respecting those around you. We also stay because of the sense of community that Makoto has allowed my son to build with his peers. You will find no better program anywhere around.
Makoto might be categorized as an after school martial arts program, but it's so much more! The teachers, the program - they super charge my child! Makoto has given my child the opportunity to learn accountability, self-respect, honor and discipline. They've equipped him with the tools and knowledge to be healthy and strong, both physically and mentally. I will always owe a debt of gratitude to the leaders and teachers at Makoto, for raising my son to be an amazing person during the few hours a day that I couldn't. With the help of the amazing families that attend Makoto, the entire Makoto community truly leads these kiddos to greatness.
This isn't a daycare center. This is a place where the children learn discipline and develop character while they are taught martial arts. My family has loved the almost 3 years we have spent at Makoto. My daughters have made some really wonderful friends. As parents, we know that our girls are working hard, having fun, and taken care of until we can pick them up. The summer camps are awesome, too! The staff is friendly and helpful. The La Frances haven't just built a martial arts studio; they've built a community for the kids and the parents they serve.
Makoto is a many-layered program. On the surface it's an after-school program. But at it's core, Makoto is a "Shuygo" program using martial arts, strength training and life coaching to inspire kids.
