Very nice hike.
This is truly a wonderful preserve. There are over 600 acres of forests, farmland, and wetlands. This park has a visitor center with bathrooms and a butterfly garden out front. The trails through the forested areas have a great variety of trees and terrain from dry rocky forest to wetland forest. In the forest you can see oak ash, tulip, hickory, beech, maple and black gum trees. The farms produce corn, hay and wheat. The number of birds you can hear and see is amazing.
My only complaints about this preserve is that three days after the rains have stopped and it was not possible to get to Chief's Grove. It does appear that they are working on this issue. The upside of the problem was animal tracks were easy to see.
Quiet and beautiful, awesome place for a hike.
Great place to hike and enjoy the outdoors...beautiful scenery..peaceful and serene!
Good hiking with a variety of landscape. Connects to other hiking areas for many miles of trails. We did seven miles. Interesting history. Some trails seem low use and more quiet. Good tracking in snow.
