  About to have my second baby with Kate and Tyler! Absolutely loved my first experience. The actual labor and delivery itself was so calm and cozy. At no point at all was i worried or in distress like when i had my first in a hospital. A personal experience alll the way through. Also, i always joke about how they were like little magical fairies, cleaning everything up, including myself, with absolutely no trace of what had happened and without me even being aware of it, lol! - The two of them are so confident and full of knowledge with a very laid back attitude because of their vast experience and knowledge about the women’s body, babies, childbirth birth, and all that comes after. - i have gone to them for my annual pap, pregnancies and with any questions about babies in general! They’ve always given me sound and accurate guidance and i feel that it is sooo much more then a patient/midwife relationship, more like they are there as friends and I’m equipped with my own personal back up and support system. Not to mention the network of women and mothers you are connected to through the rising Moon community! Truely the VIP treatment. I’m so spoiled by this experience & would think it was just silly to do it any other way! (And i have had one baby in a hospital, one in a birthing center, one at home with RM & from there on I’ve found the way to do it!)

  Rising Moon Midwifery is made up of Kate and Tyler. That’s it. There’s no office staff, no receptionist, no nurses, no obstetrician overseeing their every move. I don’t think people understand how annoying those things can be until they aren’t there. Every phone call, text, or email was answered by Kate and Tyler. There’s no waiting in a doctor’s office praying you don’t get the nurse you don’t like. There’s no poorly mannered doctor that you’re stuck dealing with because they’re an excellent surgeon. Continuity of care is an awe inspiring experience. Top all of that with the fact they they view birth as a normal physiological event and the statistics that speak for themselves.... Dream Team. 
  
  Being fat and navigating the world can be hard. Being fat and needing medical care can be a death sentence. There are countless blogs and Facebook groups dedicated to being fat and pregnant. Poor care, disrespectful care is out there. But thanks to Rising Moon Midwifery there’s an alternative. Kate and Tyler never mentioned my weight. In fact, I never even stepped on a scale. They focused on nutrition and movement. They monitored appropriately for any issues that could arise but never spoke as though the issues would absolutely happen. And they never linked any potential issues to my weight. This was completely opposite from my first pregnancy. My care providers during my first pregnancy spoke at me, accused me of taking blood pressure medication without disclosing it to them, assured me that because of my weight I had gestational diabetes despite being too sick to complete the test. It was a nightmare that left a mark. 
  
  I thought I needed a home birth to heal. That tends to be what people do when they have prior traumatic birth experiences. So that’s what I thought would “fix” me. By the end of the second trimester I realized it didn’t matter where my baby was born. What mattered was every interaction I had with the people that would be there during one of the biggest moments of my life. I cried numerous times during my prenatal appointments with Kate and Tyler. I was astonished at how good it felt to be treated like a competent person. To be treated like a human being. Because they only take four to six clients a month and you’re the only person they see at your appointment time there’s never a wait for your appointment to start. Every question Evan or I had was answered honestly and respectfully. Coraline was welcomed at every appointment with open arms and plenty of toys. It was more than I could have ever dreamt it would be. I don’t even have the words to explain how grateful I am for Kate and Tyler.
  
  My son’s birth was everything I hoped. Kate and Tyler were the perfect mix of calm, nurturing, reassuring, and knowledgeable. There were no hiccups. They always had gloves on. They cleaned everything up as if the life changing event had never even happened. We don’t want to have anymore children and while I’m totally fine with that I’m sad to know I’ll never birth with Kate and Tyler by my side ever again.

  When we found out we were expecting our second child, we researched our provider options in the area and decided to do a home birth this time around. (We had my 1st at a birth center.)
  
  I honestly couldn’t have been happier with my experience! Kate and Tyler at Rising Moon have exactly the right mentality about the beauty and simplicity of natural birth, and they have the medical skills and knowledge to back it up. My labor at home was faster and smoother than I could have ever dreamed, and my recovery time has been equally impressive! (Important when you already have an active toddler to chase around! )
  
  I would definitely recommend Rising Moon to anyone who is low-risk and is interested in having the best natural birth experience possible! There’s nothing like being tucked into your own bed with your new baby after delivering in the calmness and quietness of your own home.

  What a wonderful experience to have my first born with Kate and Tyler in my own home. Having a baby is such a personal time. These ladies really make the entire pregnancy and birth feel calm, confident, knowledgeable, and personalized. Every single question I had as a first time mama-to-be was answered reasonably and geared to me specifically - not a generic "by the book" answer because each mom and baby is so unique. I had zero fear about having baby at home. I knew I was in the BEST hands. Home birth IS an option and the midwives of RM are truly one of a kind!

  I need to make a long story short; because, I have a beautiful Rising Moon baby to attend! But, I want you to know that our region of PA is very lucky to have Kate available to us. My birth story was not the one I had planned on. But, my dream of a safe, healthy baby did come true. Fate decided we were to be among the roughly 3% of c-sections that are medically necessary. Therefore, I am so thankful that we were Rising Moon clients. Kate's professionalism, strict adherence to medical rationale, and compassion ensured that we had the safest and least traumatic birth possible even though we were unable to have a home birth. Kate will forever live on in my heart as the practitioner who kept me and my baby safe. She is a blessing to our community!
