Love fishing here with my kids. Pulled some nice fish outta here and it's also good for camping.
Clean and safe. Pool goes from about 16 inches deep to about six feet deep, with an enormous splash pad, so fun for all ages, including toddlers. No diving, and no diving boards. About $5 to get in, memberships are available at the park office, just down the road from the pool. Daily group rates available. I've never ordered anything, but snack bar looks pretty sweet. Picnic tables outside. We have reserved a pavilion for birthday parties. I think they have cabins and yurts and boats available for rent. Great fishing in the lake. Would recommend without hesitation. Check out Nathaniel Cole State Park in Hurpersville, NY also. Free swimming in beautiful, clean lake, surrounded by manicured beach. Did I mention free?
Very pretty lake to kayak. I've been there twice now and it was very windy on both occasions, I'm gonna guess it's ALWAYS pretty windy there. Still, there are plenty of coves and inlets in which to find shelter from said wind and the shore harbors lots of wildlife. Nice park in general.
I have recently rediscovered beloved Lackawanna SP. It is a great place to kayak and nordic skate while enjoying a couple cold beers. There is a family of beavers I like to kayak up to. I talk to them and they seem to connect with me, making it is a spiritual experience. I enjoy using my Nordic skates here also because I get a lot of attention when I wear them. It is great to see people's reactions to me on my Nordics, especially from women. It is a great ice breaker and I like watching the women. I have made some new friends and love interests in real life at Lackawanna. It is also a great place for van dwellers like myself who hate capitalism, greed and yuppies, to sleep and use the facilities for free.
A beautiful park with many miles of different trails for walking and biking. The trails are well kept up and have clear directions with arrows nailed to trees. Animals run wild here and if you look carefully you can find all sorts of interesting animals and insects. Such a quiet and peaceful place.
