absolutely awsome trails and hike and beautiful scenery
Chestnut Grove is one of my favorite places to view wildlife in Lancaster. Pictures don't do it justice. This nature preserve is a hidden gem and very representative of the beauty of this county. Acres of lush vegetation, wildflowers, birds, fox, deer and all meeting the susquehanna river.
Great place to hike it's a little of everything Woods, open space, Hills, flat areas and it's never crowded.
Open from Dawn until Dusk. Easy trails, quiet.
Great park, about 10 miles worth of trails through grassland areas. There is one connection to the turkey hill trail, and another to the Enola Low Grade Trail. Very varied habit with wetlands, meadows, mature forest, and early successional forest. Great for photography of plants and animals along with landscape photography. Not much shade though so be sure to bring sunscreen.
