  So glad to see the Garden and trails brought back to life. So many memories from my childhood were made here. I look forward to all of the activities Batrams Garden plans and there is always something to do. Beautiful garden and great staff in Southwest Philly!

  What a great gem in an unexpected place! A quiet, wooded area with a trail. Families, kids riding bikes. It's a very nice surprise in the middle of a residential area. Bartrams Gardens also has a great wedding venue! Several old stone buildings with surrounded by grass and trees. If it wasn't for the occasional road noise, you'd never know you were in the city! They hosted a nice outdoor ceremony, followed by Hors D'oeuvres and drinks in an open area with tables. Then dinner and reception in a huge tent with a wooden floor and decorated nice enough to make it feel like a hall. Great place!

  Bartram's Mile Trail opened a few months ago. It's going to be a great addition to the existing Schuylkill River Trail in the near future, when both trails are connected via Schuylkill River Swing Bridge that's nearby. The only gripe I have is that the trail is too disjointed in current condition.

Bartram's Mile | Bartram's Garden

The Bartram's Mile Trail segment is 1.1 miles long, starts at the 56th Street "bandstand", travels through Bartram's Garden, and extends north to the Grays Ferry Bridge. It will connect to the Schuylkill River Trail's Gray's Ferry Crescent via a re-purposed rail bridge in 2018.

Bartram's Mile is set to extend the Schuylkill River Trail to Southwest Philadelphia and historic Bartram's Garden. Well, mark your calendars, folks, because the long-planned Bartram's Mile trail, the future mile-long section of the Schuylkill River Trail, will break ground this Monday, November 23rd.

Bartram's Mile - Civic Commons

The Bartram's Mile trail project, funded in part by a $250,000 grant from the Civic Commons initiative, is the latest effort toward making the garden more welcoming. Construction of the mile-long bike and pedestrian trail, outfitted with lighting, benches and lawn areas, is set to begin this spring.
