(September 14, 2017, 11:25 am)I recently had the pleasure of spending a few weeks in Pipe Creek, Texas (yep, it's a metropolis) near Bandera, Texas. I popped into Uber CrossFit to visit my old friends Silvia and Michael. I've known these guys for a few years and was embarrassed that this was my first time to visit their gym. I've seen a lot of CrossFit gyms over the years. They come in all shapes and sizes, and appear in varying degrees of cleanliness. I was absolutely floored by Uber. The space is awesome, actually BOTH spaces are fantastic. There is plenty of room to move around and bail out of that missed lift without worrying about dropping a weight on your neighbor. My experienced CrossFit athletes will understand this, new CrossFitters should know there is plenty of room for you to safely move around and workout. I've been in gyms where I was slightly worried the entire time that I was going to be brained by the barbell next to me. This isn't the case at Uber, it's fantastic. Also, the Big Ass Fan overhead is sure to keep you cool even if it can't keep you from sweating on those hot Texas summer days.
Silvia and Michael were gracious enough to allow me to workout at Uber during my brief stay. The people who attend Uber were welcoming, friendly, and made my stay comfortable. The coaches were attentive and unforgiving when it came to form corrections. There was also a strength class on certain days for those athletes who wanted to get in some extra, focused strength work. I would encourage anyone who was considering CrossFit in the Bandera area, go pay Uber a visit and talk with Silvia and Michael about your goals.
