Nice ward.
Great place to get to know God
I love the church
I echo reviewer Josh Donat's thoughts. Great location with wonderful people. The congregations that meet in this building are often young families with young children due to the proximity to UTSA and UTHSC.
Always a center for Christ-centered family activities. I frequently visit the congregations meeting at this building and am always greeted with warmth and inclusion.
Church services are held Sundays, with three congregations meeting in their own three-hour blocks. Each block includes a main service (including the sacrament of the Lord's supper, or bread and water, as well as sermons delivered by congregants assigned in advance), an hour of general Sunday School, and an hour of gender-specific Sunday school learning.
These blocks are scheduled for:
9 a.m. until noon
11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The morning service (9 a.m. to noon) is in Spanish, designed to cater to those who speak Spanish as a primary language. Many of these members also speak English, but if you're looking for services in Spanish this is your place.
Those attending will typically dress in "Sunday best", with women wearing dresses that cover the shoulders and knees and men wearing shirts and ties. Most of the men will wear white shirts and ties. Visitors are always welcome, and may wear whatever they feel is appropriate. Small children remain with their families for the first hour of services, and will be able to attend age-specific classes for the remaining two hours.
The people here are amazing and down-to-earth. Those in the Spanish congregation come from a variety of backgrounds and represent several Latin American nations. Some are first-generation immigrants, while others feature mixed-race and mixed-culture couples. You'll find no friendlier group of people in all the world!
The English-speaking congregations are similarly friendly and inclusive. These people come from a wide swath of backgrounds - some are military, many are medical students or residents.
