Our standard wirehair champion dachshund went down in her back Sunday of this week. Our vet here in Kerrville advised me to take her to Mission Vet to the neurosurgeon, Dr. Jocelyn Cooper. Their receptionists, their vet techs, their intern,Dr. Russell, and the neurosurgeon, Dr. Cooper, were AWESOME. The diagnosis was not her back, but meningitis...an infection of the spinal cord. Their quick diagnosis, their response to medication, and their knowledge of how to care for our valuable little girl saved her life. "Patty" is not just a pet but an integral part of our breeding program of champion and Best in Show winning dachshunds. We are so pleased to know that there are quality vets, such as these, in our area. These are vets that are knowledgeable and wise, they are not just vets who do spays, neuters, and vaccinations. They care and are concerned for the well being of all their patients. I am so thankful that there are veterinarians who have chosen to specialize and help our four legged friends. In our dog world, specialists are much needed. We count on them for special tests, genetic testing, and then situations like this. We need vets who will go the extra mile for us and our animals. The clinic was immaculate, even though there was construction occurring, and the atmosphere was equal. I will definitely be back, hopefully, for nothing as serious. But I rest in the assurance that my animal will be taken care well.
I had to recently put my dog's life in Dr. Beach's hands and even in an emergency situation, he and the staff kept me calm and the entire situation ran smoothly and my dog and I waited about 20 minutes by the reception area until the tech came and got his IV set up. I got a call about 8 hours later to pick him back up and that was that. Very professional, very kind, and explained everything to me and it was exactly what I needed to hear. They saved him from a rattlesnake strike and he's home with me now and I'm forever grateful .
Thankful that this place takes pet emergencies. Thank you to Dr. Clark for doing her best and the rest of her staff. You guys showed tremendous work ethic and care. Dr. Clark was very informative, kind and respectful. Even though I lost my sweet pup, she validated my family’s emotions, she sympathized and empathized with us. Thank you.
The staff here is great. The doctor was knowledgeable and caring. My dog hates the vet but she did not seem to mind being at Mission. They also are AAHA-certified and they have surgeons and internal specialists on staff. I took my dog to another emergency vet prior and I wish I had taken her to Mission to start with.
Great Organization, great staff. Made losing a family member a lot easier. Hats off to Dr. Howard and her team. They did everything possible but sometimes things just move to fast. They treated our dog and our family with absolute dignity and respect. An incredibly huge blow to our family was taken care of very quickly and with 100 percent class. I hope to never have to use an oncologist vet again, but if we do it will be Mission. Thank you guys and God bless you for your love of Animals.
