  Dr. Martin and Debbie are an amazing team who have changed both my dogs' lives for the better. The only regret I have is not going sooner. Stellar individualized service, empathy, and experience.

  I have been using Veterinary Behavior Consultants for 11 years. Their knowledge of animals especially dogs is amazing. They have been so patient over the years with me and have helped with the countless questions I’ve had about all of my animals!!! I would not have been able to help my Husky with his separation anxiety 11 years ago had I not met them!! They have continued to monitor him all this time and have helped me with his fear of Thunder and fireworks too! My daughters dog (who lives with me most of the time) has struggled with anxiety and territorial issues. They have helped us learn techniques both with and without meds that have made things so much better for him and for us! The things I have learned from both Debbie and Dr Martin will help me with any future dogs forever! I would recommend them to anyone who has dog issues!!

  We came to Dr. Martin in 2020 at our wit’s end and feeling completely desperate. I had adopted Gigi, a very skittish and nervous rescue dog back in 2017, that had been surrendered by her owner after a history of neglect. Although her and I had bonded and established a relationship of trust, upon moving in with my partner in late 2019 she began to exhibit very reactive behavior toward him. She growled, bared her teeth, lunged, and even bit him, if he ever came too close to her while she was near me. She was possessive and protective over me, and her relationship with me. It had created so much stress in our house, placed a palpable strain on my relationship, and was weighing heavily on poor Gigi too. I was embarrassed…but I knew we needed professional help. Once I met Dr. and Debbie Martin, I knew we were in good hands. They were both so kind and understanding. They took time to ask questions and really understand our home life so they could recommend an easy and straightforward training plan that we could stick too. I was initially nervous about medicating Gigi, but Dr. Martin was so informative on how the stress of each of those incidents could in and of itself be a health/safety concern for her. We had to find her happy baseline. Just as some people need medicinal intervention to help them find an emotional baseline that allows them to live happy and productive lives, so can our dogs. With Dr. and Debbie Martin’s guidance and simple training plan, a little medication, and a lot of consistency, we began to see improvement in only four weeks. Two years later, we have made a complete 180z. Gigi is happier than she has ever been. She spins and gives my partner what we call “drive-by” leg licks. She sunbathes with her mouth open and her eyes half closed, wiggling around in the warm grass in excitement. But she is happiest when she gets to snuggle next to him on the couch. She is less stressed and her personality shines through more and more very day. We are so thankful for Dr. and Debbie Martin and the hope and fresh start they gave our family.

  Debbie and Dr. Ken Martin are the best behavior/training professionals we have ever used, and we've tried many.
  My husband and I are involved in briard rescue and over the years we have adopted many adult dogs who needed more help adapting to their new lives than we were able to provide, without expertise. After trying multiple trainers and so called behaviorists my veterinarian recommended the Martins. Our dog had a long time fear of men, strangers, real estate signs, cars, leashes, etc... The Martins are terrific behavior evaluators and quite personable. Additionally, they liked our dog immediately and gave us the confidence to help her develop her own confidence. As my husband likes to say, until the Martins we wasted tens of thousands of dollars on trainers but it finally. paid off. They were able to help us enormously by devising a plan that even my husband complied with! They helped us with our subsequent dogs as well, also successfully. Our dogs and our lives have been significantly enhanced for having met the Martins. We trust them implicitly with our dogs.

  I don't even know where to begin when it comes to describing how thoroughly Dr. Martin and Debbie Martin have changed the lives of our family. Our dog is highly reactive and requires incredibly specialized care. We had been "fired" from countless vets, had spent thousands of dollars on training, and were feeling hopeless when we finally found Veterinary Behavior Consultations. At last we felt like someone was listening to us and the relief that came with knowing that our pup was finally in the right hands was immeasurable. The Martins are an incredibly knowledgeable, professional, highly responsive, and caring team who have truly gone above and beyond to help us navigate our dog's unique challenges. Better still, our visits to them are peaceful and fear-free for all of us. It has given us enormous peace of mind to know that they are always just a phone call or email away for any questions or concerns.
