Nice drive. They provide a free audio CD that you listen to as you drive. Pretty much stayed in car because of the mosquitoes.
One of my favorite NWRs! Lots of birds, alligators, and other wildlife. Great auto tour too - be sure to pick up a CD at the front for audio. Bring bug spray!
A very nice refuge, well maintained by a number of dedicated volunteers! You'll ALWAYS see something interesting! Arrive right at sunrise. We saw a bittern, white-tailed kite and tons of ducks... the clouds of gulls went on forever!
Love this place. You can walk some & drive the rest. Be sure to visit in the am or pm not mid-day when it is too hot for wildlife. Very nice & informative range to allow us to see it all with no mistakes in directions.

Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, a freshwater slough winding through salt marshes, offers rare, native bluestem prairie that graces the uplands. Look for alligators year-round on Big Slough and in refuge ponds. In dry seasons, their trails thorough the mud and excavated gator holes are easy to spot.
