ALEX SANGER PREPARATORY SCHOOL

We enrolled our daughter in the Spanish Immersion program at Sanger when she began kindergarten. She is now in the second grade and reads and writes above gradelevel in both Spanish and English. She understands, reads and writes Spanish fluently and is highly conversational (we've been so pleased to see her striking up conversations in Spanish with people at stores and parks and conversing with our bilingual friends).

This programs adheres to a well-researched method of immersion education and the administrators and teachers implement it well. Seventy percent of the instruction (K-2nd) is in Spanish, math and specials are taught in English. In third grade, instruction transitions from immersion to dual language (50% in English, 50% in Spanish). We couldn't be happier with the program. It provides an exceptional level of opportunity and academic challenge for English speaking children.

We've also enjoyed the bi-lingual, bi-literate, and bi-cultural aspect of the school. Not only are these kids learning to speak another language, they are becoming literate in two languages and experts at moving easily between two cultures. As a parent who values diversity, this has proved a beneficial part of her education.

Apart from the academic programs, Sanger has a strong PTA, wonderful teachers and coaches, fantastic outdoor classrooms and learning gardens, as well as a vibrant fine arts department. They do also have a very strong general education program for families who are not interested in the immersion option.

Our youngest turns five this coming summer and we look forward to having a second Sanger Stallion in the family in 2016.

My grandson had been going to school since he started and now he's in 5th and my granddaughter started this year and loves it. They are so smart...

My daughter started in the Dual Language Immersion program in Kinder. She is now in 1st grade and doing very well. We love Sanger and it's leadership!

My daughter is having a wonderful experience at Sanger Elementary. Her Spanish has just exploded since attending Sanger and we couldn't be more pleased. Her kindergarten teacher, Ms. Dominguez is first class - I can't imagine her having a better teacher.

As a former teacher myself I'm very impressed with all the teachers I have met. The faculty is very current on best practices and Principal Martinez has done an excellent job recruiting kind, intelligent teachers who are excited to make a difference. There is palpable level of energy around the campus that makes me feel excited whenever I visit. I'm amazed at how many teachers turn out for PTA events on weekends. The school hallways are all decorated and every hall is named after a university reflecting the high expectations the school has of the students. The school has a strong volunteer tutoring program and a variety of after school clubs for special interests. My daughter has bonded with the art teacher, Ms. Fletcher through the art club. Ms. Fletcher is possibly the most cheerful person I've ever met and a joy to be around.

My children just completed their third year at Sanger, and it was great! The dual language program is wonderful. The PTA is strong and active. The teachers and principles really care. The learning garden is beautiful. The sports teams are winners. We really love our school, and can't wait for the next school year!
