100% HONEST REVIEW BY A CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT:

First off, I have to say this school is not too bad. I have been here for 7 years now and I do have to say 2 things are very misleading to this school. 1st is project based learning. Some classes just don't work with it. For example, doing projects all the time in math has barely taught me anything. I feel like a traditional teaching method helps us learn much better in some classes rather than projects. Don't get me wrong some projects have taught me much better, but all I'm saying is that PBL should not be done in every class. 2nd, is the leadership aspect of the school. In elementary we did a lot learning how to be a leader and going over the 7 habits, but after 6th grade and up, we have done almost nothing. I feel like the school is being crammed together having a 5th grade in a middle and high school. Personally, I hate it because if I'd have a downstairs class I'd hear kids running and screaming almost every class. The education portion of the school is pretty good for the most part. You aren't overloaded with homework and teachers are mostly pretty laid back and willing to help. I'd say about 70% of our teachers are good and care about our learning. I can't complain because no matter what school you go to there will always be bad teachers. I do feel as if a lot of our teachers are biased to a group of kids and favor them more than the rest. One complaint that I do have is our schools money. We are limited to a gym, hallways and classrooms. That's pretty much all we have. I'm not saying money is easy to get for a smaller charter schools, but what I am saying is we need more than just hooks for backpacks, which is extremely inconvenient. We also have no cafeteria, no school lunches other than catering which is just expensive and average food. The school has no outside field for any sports, or anywhere to really practice. Football for example we will practice on a rough field with anthills and potholes that you are bound to hurt yourself in. I do feel like the whole athletics program is a disappointment if you are interested in playing sports because we have good teams, just not great supplies or things to help us get better. If you are interested in coming here, beware this school is not even close to a public school culture wise. Everyone here are mostly good people. Overall, with this school you can't expect it to be perfect, but they should do a better job with some things such as trying to get funding some way for a better quality school. I give it a 3.75 rating.

This school is so unique and we are so lucky to be part of the LPS family. We were at a Frisco public School and absolutely hated it. We’ve now been at LPS for our 4th year and I can’t speak highly enough of our experience and the leadership skills our kids bring home. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged and rewarded and that makes a huge difference! I’m so thankful we got in to LPS and I have no hesitation in saying that our kids will happily be graduating high school from there one day!

LPS isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Students are overreacting because they don't try in school and end up getting bad grades. The students that try are succeeding and doing great things. I've been here for over five years and sure, I've had my moments where I hate being here, but isn't that at every high school? Sometimes I hate going to school, but it's not based on the environment, it's based on the fact that school is school and kids don't like it most of the time. Students have gotten expelled because they did unacceptable things like threatening students and putting people in danger. The teachers love the students and they really would put their lives before our own. Just because sometimes the students or the teachers have bad moments doesn't mean this school is awful. All schools have bad moments, but people shouldn't focus on these moments. I have so much fun here with the students and I can talk to my teachers about anything. I'm in multiple sports and leadership positions, so I'm really happy with how this school has changed me and made me better. I completely recommend this school if you want to improve yourself in any aspect.
