Town of Lakewood Village

Unrelated to this specific facility but if anyone is considering visiting Lakewood Village because it is a "Dark Sky community" and wants to come here for stargazing, please come with realistic expectations (unlike me). Although the town is recognized by darksky.org, it is still a suburb that is situated very close to the enormous metroplex that is the DFW. The city's light pollution heavily drowns out the dark sky here. Sure you can find some of the brighter stars, but seeing glimpses of the Milky Way is way out of the question even on a new moon night with no cloud cover. A generic small town way out of the city limits would probably be a much better choice for stargazing than here even if it's officially recognized.
