If you're looking for a GOOD optometrist, then you should stop reading this review. However, if you're interested in selecting an EXCEPTIONAL optometrist, then I urge you to continue reading. Honestly. I've worn glasses for almost 50 years, and during that time period I've had a range of optometrist--from okay to very good. So, suffice it to say, I know when one is good: And Dr. Salchak is exceptional.
First and most importantly, he's competent. I first visited with Dr. Salchak when I had difficulty wearing a new pair of glasses. I'd had my annual eye exam performed by another doctor, and the prescription in one lens was too strong. Succintly, I felt as if my glasses were fighting me. Just by chance, I saw Dr. Salchak. After an examination, he immediately diagnosed and corrected the problem.
So, this year, when it was time for my annual exam, guess whom I chose as my optometrist? Dr. Salchak. This time, I was experiencing another problem related to my tear ducts. Once again, Dr. Salchack came to the rescue. He calmly talked me through a process that I've been dreading. He also accurately identified the solution to a problem that I was experiencing with a pair of glasses (out of which I was unable to read, even though they are progressive lens).
In addition to be amazingly competent, Dr. Salchak is professional, friendly, kind, generous with his time, and he's surrounded by a wonderful staff. One of whom is Ashley Guillory, and she is the world's best optician. Really. I can't tell you how much angst I experience going through the process of getting my glasses fitted, and hoping that the optician does a proper job. What good is it to buy new frames (I have several pairs), get an eye exam, and then NOT be able to use the glasses because they have not been fitted properly? Ashley is the cure. She is skilled and she's personable. Ashley spent well over 45 minutes with me. She ensured that my new glasses were fitted/positioned accurately. And she corrected a problem with another pair of glassses from which I could not read (consistent with Dr. Salchak's diagnosis and guidance).
Lastly, (and no less important) there are two wonderful staff members: Megan and Jenny. Megan is that drop of sunshine who will greet you at the front desk. She personifies kindness, and has a warm, friendly spirit. And Jenny will begin your initial exam. She's kind, considerate, friendly, and a ssimply wonderful listener.
Last Saturday, as I was leaving Dr. Salchak's office (the one located in Missouri City), I thanked the staff because I'd had a simply wonderful and very enjoyable time. In fact, I'd almost forgotten to pay! Thank you, Dr. Salchak, Ashley, Megan and Jenny!!

Dr. Salchak was a wonderful eye doctor. He was patient and caring. I was extremely nearsighted. So much so that my eyes could not be corrected enough to even get my drivers license renewed. He referred me to an incredible doctor for a lens replacement. I now have better vision than I have ever had in my life. I highly recommend this doctor.
