Perfect place to work and learn
I have not only worked for this Montessori I also saw my 2 Little sisters attend there from the time they were in daycare until they went on to middle school. Miss Howe has a true passion for early childhood development. The classrooms and staff are very diverse in every sense of the word. I now have a 3 year old and I hope to enroll her soon.
We have 3 children at South Shore Montessori and we love the place! Suzie and the entire staff go above and beyond to make sure South Shore Montessori is one of the best Montessori schools in Houston.
South Shore Montessori has wonderful functions for the kids and they also recommend great parenting books to read. They maintain a wonderful Facebook page and they even send out weekly emails that keep both my wife and I up do date with current events at the school.
I also love the fact that anytime I have a concern, all I have to do is pick up the phone and call and normally I will get a call back the same day either from Suzie or one of our children's teachers.
I cannot convey how happy I am with South Shore. They have an outstanding, diverse Montessori environment that really allow each of our kids to thrive and learn new things every day.
I highly recommend South Shore Montessori School. I have a 2 year old son and 4 year old daughter that have been attending South Shore Montessori School for the entire school year 2013/2014. It is amazing and refreshing to see my children so peaceful and so structured. I don't know how they do it! They potty trained my son this year. He is wearing big boy underwear at 2 years old. He just advanced to the next class in April. They do not hold anyone back. In fact, they advance as quickly as conquer their lessons. They are with older kids and feel privileged and confident when they advance and are able to work on the projects and responsibilities that the older children have. They teach your children to love and admire leaders in the classroom. The children want to advance, to lead, and to learn. Additionally, your children are able to participate in Tumble Bus and Dance Mobile weekly for an added cost. Both of my kids love tumble bus and dance mobile.
The hardest part for me, as a parent, coming to this school was conforming to the rules, which in the end were better for my children and family. For example, adjusting my kids meals to healthy no sugar meals and they required me to buy safe running shoes with laces. So, don't put cookies in the lunch box. The no sugar is healthy for the kids and their focus. Lace up shoes will allow them to learn to tie shoes and help the kids with their fine motor skills. The rules seemed difficult at first, but just know that everything they do has a better purpose.
