This was an AWESOME experience. I am so happy I got to take a tour of it and got a lot of interesting information from our guide! We went as a class from the University of Houston so that was wonderful. This is such a fun and quirky place to see and I recommend it if you get a chance. A great spot for inspiration for any level of art class too! There are a lot of great lessons that can be derived from the interesting history of the iconic Orange Show.

Fun wonderland of outsider art featuring--you guessed it--the Orange. Jeff McKissack, a postal worker and hobby welder, used concrete, rebar, mosaic tiles, found objects and recycled materials to create this not-to-be-missed Houston gem. You can spend 30 minutes to 2 hours touring the site, which includes a new park at the end of the block featuring a wall of mosaic art and an amphitheater.

It is so cool and it has a park next to the right of it. For kids there is a scavenger hunt and you get to see cool art!

It's a lot smaller than I remember as a kid, but still just as quirky. It's like being inside of a Dr. Seuss illustration. It does need some upkeep, but that's how I always remember it. The park next door is really nice. Overall a fun half hour or so, but I really wish it'd be restored to its original glory someday.
