Hays City Store & Ice House

This was a perfect family & pet friendly restaurant & bar. They have indoor & outdoor seating, picnic tables, corn hole and even brought a water dish for our Obi.

The food was great and the drinks were refreshing on a hot Texan summer day! I love places like this! Tell me I sent you and taste the food for yourself, you won’t regret it!

It was a nice place, you can tell they put in a lot of effort to really fix the place up from what it used to be so many years ago. The food was okay, there wasn't anything that really stood out to me to make me go back. The chips are good, the mushroom gravy was flavorful. The greenbeans with garlic butter were nice. The menu itself is pretty classic southern/American/Mexican. It was a hot afternoon, but they have plenty of misters outside to keep you cool. Overall, really good. Kind of pricey though.

Great spot nestled in the Hill Country. Hay’s City Store & Ice House has that authentic small town Texas feel with big city taste. Excellent selection of frozen drinks and extensive rotating specials menus means you’ll find something new to love with every visit.

This place was perfect. I had been out on the water in San Marcos then marcos for most of the afternoon. Then on my way home I passed by And thought this is perfect place to stop and get some food. Their menu is awesome. I've had their Margarita Flights before And they are amazing. I decided to just get a strawberry Margarita this time. I'm not a huge fan of onion rings normally but these were so crispy and fantastic. Got the chicken fried steak and it was absolutely perfect very tender. The mass potatoes were spot on. And the jalapeno corn really surprised me at how good it was. I really can't think of anything negative about this experience. Will definitely be coming back and next time I'm gonna try the chicken fried chicken.

I drove up to this place and saw all the cars in the satellite parking lot and thought this is going to take a while. But I was pleasantly surprised. I was seated right away and got my appetizer soon thereafter. The queso was flavorful but lukewarm and clumpy. The bacon jam burger was a great creation but the burger Patty itself was bland as can be. Even with the best toppings, the burger itself still has to taste good for me to love it. But the star of the show was the onion rings - uniquely flavored and perfectly battered with delicious homemade ranch as the perfect complement. I'm glad I made my way to try this place since I was staying nearby but I can't say I'm eager to get back.
