I just wanted to give a big thank you to the knowledgable, friendly guys at Urban Sawmill. I was recently looking for a fireplace mantel, but I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. I was invited to come to the mill, where they took the time to show me the beautiful pieces of wood they had and explained to me all my options. I would definitely recommend Urban Sawmill for all your woodworking needs.

I’ve been asking around for sawdust and finally came across Texas Urban Sawmill. Even though Devin was providing it for free, he was always quickly responsive as I coordinated with him for pick up over a number of months (when he would have some available and when I could make the trip). He even helped me load the heavy bags when I got there. It’s the kind of experience that will make me call him up if I ever need milling service.

Just dropped off a large piece of oak that was an ice storm casualty to be milled. These people are amazing and extremely knowledgeable. Gave me a tour of their furniture manufacturing facility and also lots of insight into what I should do to make the most out of my live oak and what to expect! I highly recommend.

I stopped by to learn more about hardwood to get started woodworking, and they were so kind to help by answering my questions and even gave me a couple free pieces to get started on my first project! I definitely will be purchasing my wood from them from in the future. They are great people and very nice!

Live edge..   if you don't know what that means, as I didn't .. it means the rough edge of a board that was the tree's outer layer, bark.  It's beautiful and makes for amazing furniture and shelves.  We decided to build some book shelves with this "live edge".   Where to start??   Ebay, Amazon, local big box stores???  Nope, nope and nope.  We searched the internet and talked to a few sawmills - some very far away, some prices that would make your hair stand on end..  Then we saw "Texas Urban Sawmill" and it was nearby!  A phone call was answered by owner Devin Ginther.  He was friendly, receptive, eager to help.  We paid a visit to his business off of 290 West of Dripping Springs.  Amazing, impressive operation. He promised to call us when the perfect tree came in for our project.  He kept his word -  we are now owners of some beautiful shelves cut from a Blanco cedar tree at a very fair price.  We'll have one-of-a-kind bookshelves that are stunningly gorgeous and come with a great story !We enjoyed speaking with him. His woodworking is amazing, but his vision for the future of forestry (and impact on the climate) goes beyond his business.  He really does want to heal the damage caused by careless practices of land developers, deforestation and disposal of wood that cause harmful carbon emissions that are contributing to climate change.  Devin sees the opportunity to "right the wrongs" and understands with deep knowledge, the impact on our planet, our ONLY planet. I am eager to see what he accomplishes.  He's applying for grants to raise awareness of this critical piece of controllable climate change (via documentaries, etc)  He isn't just talking about it, he's making it happen.
I'm so happy to support him, his business, and his vision. Great products, great work, great integrity and committed to your satisfaction.  I recommend looking around your home to FIND a reason to give Texas Urban Sawmills a call.  Make something amazing.  A shelf, a mantle, a table, a bench...  something your family will treasure for years to come.
