My BIL LOVES this place. I had to try it.
Rice and beans - 2 stars
Rice is not fluffy and was undercooked. Beans had no flavor

Beef fajitas- 2 stars
They didn’t trim the membrane and they cut against the grain which left them jerky like experience.

Cheese Enchiladas 5 stars!
Excellent all the way through AND they use the good cheese!

The service is usually very quick and they accommodate to large parties!! The food is always amazing and the quality never changes. Amazing restaurant WILL go again!!

Herbert’s is one of my favorite places to go for Tex-Mex in Central Texas. I’ve been coming here since 1980 and it’s definitely comfort food that I crave. The salsa they bring out with the chips is delicious. I live 45 minutes away but it’s totally worth the drive. The service is always quick and the quality of the food is consistent. Don’t believe the 1 star haters.

Good Mexican food. Pretty standard Texas Mexican food. Last thursday about 6:30 we were floating the river and wanted something to eat. The evening we went it was very loud and very crowded. Had a 15 minute wait. Got a Margarita and it was very very sweet. I asked why it was so sweet. They said their Margaritas 🍹 are made with wine 🍷, not you're a typical Tequila Margarita. So just be aware that these margaritas are not the ones you're used to drinking. They are fine if you just want a alcoholic drink but if you're used to and want a good margaritas I would skip this. This is a great location if floating the river.
