Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture

Paved nature trail through a salt marsh. I was glad they had mowed some of the salt grass adjacent to the path to allow more room for people. One of the trails, the main one we wanted to walk, was blocked off due to construction which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of five. Bring water and wear a hat because shade is only at the shelters. In addition to the main gazebo, there were only two on the trail to the ball fields. Overall, it's a nice way to get away from the crowds and experience nature.

This is a absoulete gem in Port Aransas. This nature preserve offers a short trail and a well maintained ans upkept boardwalk with a decent sized observation tower. I saw many birds during my visit, including Pelicans, white Egrets, and a flock of Roseate Spoonbills in the distance. If you love birding, check this place out, you won't be disappointed.

Enjoy a beautiful stroll on an amazing path that Overlooks the shipping channel and winds their way through title marshes. Keep your eyes peeled you will see everything from geckos, turtles, migrating Shorebirds, look the rosette spoonbill and of course the dolphin show has the Freighters go by. When we visited there was also a story book Trail that featured the children's book about the Roseate spoonbill. This added an extra layer of fun for the family. Bring plenty of water as the walk get very warm in the summer. There is plenty of parking and a bathroom. They are doing some upgraded Construction and sometimes parking is limited. There is several Pavilions for shade along the way and one large Pavilion that overlooks a lake. This would be a good spot for a picnic. Also if you remember you will get a better look at all the wildlife if you bring binoculars. Do you have your wits about you as our walk was early in the morning and we did cross paths with a couple who was not there to view the wildlife.
