I came to Dr. Sauman Rafii seeking relief for nerve pain that starts at my lower right abdomen, radiates over my right rib cage and extends towards my back. I recently aggravated what I believe is abdominal wall nerve entrapment syndrome by driving and sitting for 16 hours. Dr Rafi listened to my medical history around this recurring pain, and he asked several questions to determine how we could go forward and alleviate this nerve pain. At the end of this diagnostic session Dr. Rafi arranged a next day appointment where he would use an ultrasound guided process to properly inject an anesthetic and a corticosteroid into the nerve entrapped area. I'm so thankful for the attention that Dr. Rafi afforded me. After this treatment the nerve pain events have diminished, and for completeness Dr. Rafi followed up with me two weeks later via a tele-medicine session. The Austin area is fortunate to have Dr Rafi. He's accessible, engaged during the entire session, and his knowledge afforded options and the results sought. Mine being the relief of the nerve pain detailed above.

Because of the state of the US regarding pain management, I was terrified of this appointment. I have had horrible experiences in the past with other pain doctors.

This was literally the best pain management doctor I have ever had an appointment with. He treated me with respect and dignity, and most of all, he wanted to help me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience - I only wish i had found this place sooner. He spent a good amount of time with me, asking about my complex medical history and going over symptoms and previous treatments. Other places tend to hold treatments hostage unless you get their nerve blocks (done at their facility and are *whewww* expensive), but he didn’t push, nor recommend them at all since I’ve had so many in the past. Dr. Rafii was the most kind, genuine, and just simply amazing pain management physician I have ever come across.

I know I’m rambling and repeating myself, but I was just so shocked that I found a doctor that actually gave a damn, spent more than 5 mins with me, and legitimately wanted to help me, stating that I deserve pain management like everyone else.

I will always recommend this place to anyone who asks.

I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Raffii by my neurosurgeon several months ago. I have a very complex case of sever spinal stenosis resulting in the near complete collapse of my lumbar spine. Dr. Raffii has been hands down the most compassionate pain doctor I have ever encountered. Having been to other pain clinics where I was treated often as an addict due to my needs for pain mediciation, Dr. Raffii was truly a Blessing and Miracle. Coming out of a massive lumbar reconstruction, Dr. Raffii pledged to not allow me to suffer. He honored his word and my recovery has been nothing less than miraculous. His pain clinic is relatively small allowing him more time to get to know his patients and understand their pain and their needs. His front office answers the phone and communication is quite easy, unlike all of the other pain clinics that left me feeling more like cattle than human. I cannot give enough praise to Dr. Raffii and Diagnostic Pain!

Dr. Rafii is very knowledgeable, kind, and responsive. He has helped me with multiple diagnostic injections and also worked on pain relief options. I really appreciate how engaged he's stayed with me answering questions, and giving insights to help sort through root causes of pain issues.

I saw Dr. Sauman Rafii after a previous Dr. recommended me for a lumbar steroid shot. To be honest I was not going to go through with it because I had read so many stories online about things going wrong. But Dr. Rafii was awesome in walking me through my concerns and answering my questions. A week later, I scheduled it, Dr Rafii performed it and now I am pain free! I totally recommend Dr. Rafii, not only because he knows his "stuff" but because he really does listen. Bonus: he responds so quickly to messages via their patient portal. I was surprised when I got a response from him within an hour after sending a message! How is that for customer service!
