My experience with GB and home birth was WONDERFUL. I’m a first time mom and 40 years old, and I didn’t want to go the OBGYN route for many reasons, including that they immediately treat you as high risk bc of your age, not taking into account any of your actual level of health, no matter how good.

The interview was very easy to schedule on GB’s site, which we did over Zoom and I got to ask all my questions about how she would handle different situations. She is so calm and knowledgeable and reassuring that I quickly felt comfortable and that I was in good hands and decided to hire her. I was also excited to hear that she’s helped moms in their 40s and even later many times. Best decision ever. I only found out later, after getting to know other providers in the home birthing community, how absolutely well-respected she is and what a great reputation she has among her peers.

Through the prenatal period when I was going for my appointments, she provided great personalized care. A couple of things really stood out. First, she pushed me a little when I needed to be pushed. I wasn’t being as active as I should have been bc I was kind of relying on my generally pretty good fitness level to get me through. She had a gentle but serious conversation with me about my need to go on more walks bc birth is SO physical and it can really drain you. It got me doing what I needed to and I can absolutely see that she was right, now that I've been through labor. The other thing that stands out was when I was having intense Braxton Hicks contractions one night, and she had my husband come to her office and pick up an herbal tincture to help calm them down. She talked to me, listened, and had me take an epsom salt bath which helped me relax. Mostly, she was there emotionally and having the support and reassurance that I was okay and the baby would be okay was the most important thing.

As for the birth, I had an extremely quick and intense birth. I had prepared mentally so it went great, but she and my doula couldn’t have been a better team. I felt so comfortable with all of the scariness and so supported that I could just relax and focus. I was in the zone most of the time so I wasn’t totally present but my husband said it was amazing to watch them work. It made such a calm atmosphere.

One thing I didn’t realize I would have with a midwife, and GB specifically, was such amazing postpartum care. I feel like GB treats me like I’m her own family. I could cry when I talk about this but by night 3 with my newborn, my milk hadn’t come in and he was getting dehydrated. GB had been by for a home visit earlier that evening and told me that if we had another hard night, to not hesitate to call her. So, almost in tears, I called her around 2:30am that night. She told me to give her 10 min and she’d call right back. When she did, she said she’d be there soon with donor breast milk and we’d get him in shape. She came and was here until 4am, getting us set up with a finger feed, getting me on a pumping regimen, and getting our son some milk and ultimately some rest. We were almost delirious from lack of sleep at that point and I don’t know what I would have done without her. She has continued to provide great support in all ways, but those hard times when someone comes through for you are what really stand out.

Thank you GB! I am so lucky to have found you. God sent you to us and you have blessed our lives in so many ways.

What an incredible gift, giving birth under the care of GB was, if only every pregnant mama could be so lucky!

During our prenatal visits GB had a natural ability to make me feel like a priority. She is a wonderful listener and an expert in her field. Whenever I had questions or concerns, she was always a gentle guide, making me feel like my intuition held all the answers and she was simply a sounding board with which I could better listen to myself.

As a traditionally medically anxious person, the idea of having to have medical appointments for months prior to giving birth really worried me. Before finding GB, I had traditional OB care for my first 3 prenatal appointments. I think I cried prior to each one, at each one, and after each one. Once we found GB that all changed, I left each appointment feeling like I just finished visiting with a friend and was eager for the days or weeks to pass until I could come back.

While i'd like to protect the intimate details of my birth, I'm happy to share that I have never felt so powerful, capable, in touch with my body, or in love with my husband. GB's presence was calm, full of faith in the process, and amazingly (even though she has seen this happen countless times before) in awe of the miracle of it all. While laboring I was calmed by the knowledge that she was there monitoring me and monitoring my baby, while also giving my husband and I space to experience the magic of it all in a way that felt private and uniquely ours.

Post-birth GB has continued to be an amazing listener, supportive guide, and provider of great resources. We have relied on her in person as well as via text and phone support almost daily and she has continued to make us feel like a priority, taking such sweet and gentle care of our tender new parent souls.

I could go on and on, we love you, GB!

I am confident that I would not have had the absolutely incredible prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience I had without GB. GB is so much more than a midwife to me. She is my champion, my coach, my mother, my therapist, my caretaker. Throughout my pregnancy I came to know and love GB not only for the top notch care she took of me and my baby, but for laying out all of the options as decision making was needed, answering any questions I had, and then letting me choose without passing judgment. Throughout the labor she was calm, encouraging, and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. She knew exactly what to do and when to do it as I progressed and was gentle, but effective, in her words and her actions. My baby had latching issues and GB was there curating a plan with me to resolve the problem. I was lightheaded for 2 weeks after the birth and had night sweats and GB was right there with me, putting me on a blood building protocol which resolved both issues. Those are just two examples of her work among so many others. This was my first baby and I trusted GB with my life and my baby’s life and I will never be able to thank her enough for the impact she had on all of us and the blessing she has been in our lives. What a profound joy to bring a baby into the world in the hands of someone who truly loves you and your child and to walk side by side with that person postpartum. I could not recommend GB more.

I never want any other midwife ever again! GB and Ruth were there, helping me, for the birth of my first child. These wonderful women did amazing! They did exactly what they needed to do and now my son is over a week old and extremely happy and healthy and I thank the universe for these ladies every day now! They made my home birth amazing! I couldn't have asked for anyone more wonderful! They're both amazingly sweet and attentive, very very knowledgeable, and calming. I wouldn't have made it through my birth without them and my wonderful husband! Seriously, I recommend GB and Ruth to anyone that is looking for a wonderful midwife and magical birth experience 🥰💕

GB is one of the most compassionate, caring people I have had the pleasure of speaking with. She was my midwife for my fourth baby. She has a very calming and reassuring presence. She is extremely knowledgable and was a great help through what was one of my more difficult deliveries. I was very confident in her care and advice throughout my pregnancy. After delivery she helped me process the birth, which was a huge help.
It really is difficult to describe how it feels with GB, the energy she exudes is positive, peaceful, calming and confident. I'm not sure how else to describe it. You know that if she recommends something, she knows what will work and you'll want to follow her advice. I just really appreciate her and would recommend GB to anyone looking to have a baby.
