A hidden gem. A 3/4 mile hike to the beach but well worth it. Lots of driftwood and shells. A nice, narrow sandy beach with shallow water
I did not realize there was a half mile walk to the access point. With that said, it was totally worth the hike. I wish I had more time to explore the park. I will be coming back.
Beautiful hike! There's multiple ecosystems("biomes" if you're a gamer) on this short walk. The last bit of the hike is soft sand and it was pretty tiring.
Great little park to do a quick hike. We stopped by on our way from Cape Charles to Chicoteague. It was a few mins off the main road but worth it. Cool little hike through different biomes. The beach was pretty awesome and nice views. If i lived in the area i would visit it regularly.
Dog friendly!
This parking lot leads you through a beautiful forest of trees to a shipwreck style beach.
What a gem!
Tide had been high and the waters cooled significantly so when tides were low we were able to hike quite a distance. On our hike, we came across a cold-stunned loggerhead sea turtle that was very lethargic. A couple told us to call the Virginia Beach Aquarium. They have a rescue team that nurses these turtles back to health.
We hiked the sea turtle out with our hammock and met up with Chelsea and her team who took him to care for him. Really made us feel good that there was such caring people that genuinely had concern for these beautiful creatures!
You can call the aquarium and ask about Crowbar (formerly known as Lugnut) to see how he’s recovering😊🐢
