Boy oh boy! I love the DFAC! I don't have a choice in the matter. The food is a solid 5/10, but after a while, you become so damn hungry all day, every day, that it is a surefire Nine dime by week four!
The service? Excellent. I respect all of our servers and the brave men and women who have to watch full plates of uneaten food go in the trash (scoundrel soldiers) and I give a uniform greeting to them all with a haughty voice.
BUT THE ATMOSPHERE? TO DIE FOR! I LOVE NOT HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO EAT! "TASTE ISN'T NECESSARY, NUTRITION IS MANDATORY!"
Well I can only comment on what it was like 10 years ago. Every morning chow. 7:00. I'd eat scrambled eggs smothered with gravy ,cheese, and hot sauce. Then 3 pieces of French toast. 3 hash browns Followed by 2 smart start cereals with chocolate milk. 1 cup of coffee. And that was the best food I had for breakfast anywhere. Everything else wasn't as memorable. Wednesdays i think we'd have lobster or seafood. I always opted for troop store food after breakfast or the gut truck on Saturdays. Possibly Charleys for lunch. But breakfast was always a must.
