This is the type of business you walk into and feel comfortable asking questions and learning. As far as the location, for those of you who live in NOVA (the area of DC, Arlington, Alexandria, McLean, Reston, Fairfax), stop worrying about the distance! You will not be disappointed! I live in Alexandria and almost didn't choose Virginia Scuba (because of the distance), but after visiting and meeting the owners, I quickly changed my mind. I recently (October 2017) finished my SSI open-water and dry suit certification and had a blast! The instruction was professional, safe and accommodating. I can't speak about other dive shops in the area, but I can say that my instruction was nearly a 1-on-1 experience. If you are investing in your diver certification, you should stronger consider Virginia Scuba for your certification and specialty training. And don't worry about the gear and equipment, they offer everything you will need on site...you can buy or rent.
