Fantastic hike or trail run destination. Great orienteering too.
A fantastic park. It's location, the staff and facilities make this one of our favorite parks.
Everything from hiking to camping, wildlife to orienting, this park has it all. The staff is amazing. The access points are well maintained. Many areas are handicap accessible.
Ample parking at trail heads and around key facilities. The park offers rustic camping and cabin options. If you don't have a season pass, now is the time to get one; for one low price you can enjoy year round access to this or any National Park, depending on which pass you buy. The offer senior citizen discount and active duty military considerations, please inquire at the Ranger Station.
If you want a getaway from the hustle and bustle of DC, the Prince William Forest Park is an ideal location.
Beautiful, pristine forest with wonderfully scenic hiking trails. The South Valley Trail goes along a tranquil creek and is a great hike. The foliage was just starting, and a huge flock of migrating birds was passing through, so both the sights and sounds were very pleasing. Trailhead parking was easy to find, and the tails were well marked.
Went there just to run trails. You do need to pay if you dont have a park pass. Not sure the amount. Most trails are well marked but some are not. Dogs are allowed. We did the Laural Trail Loop which is around 3 miles. Beautiful trail and look forward to return to try out the rest of the park.
With cross-country skiing in winter, striking fall foliage in autumn, and great spring and summer recreation spots, Prince William Forest Park is a four-season destination. Despite slight increases in visitation during the summer months and on the weekends, getting away from the crowds is never a problem.
