This evaluation isn't fair as I visited during the shutdown of the Federal Government. However, the open air exhibits were good and I left with the feeling that the Park Service had used my tax dollars well.
Nicely done visitor center with a self walk thru area of period items related to the battle
The visitors center has a big impressive interpretative museum and a twenty minute documentary film. Their are volunteers who can answer your questions.
Great informative visitor center. There is a movie that costs a buck or something that is well made and helps with understanding the area. The battles were spread over a large area and a few days. This clears up some questions you might have after driving around the area, especially with timelines.
The staff was very friendly, asking everyone where they were from and, when finding out, asking if you knew the other people there who happened to be from the same state.
Very nice visitor's center right off the road. The rangers are very friendly and willing to help you navigate the expensive park. There is a driving tour as well as multiple hiking spots to check out. You can easily kill at least an hour here just doing the driving tour alone. One thing to keep in mind is that that driving tour utilizes the main road multiple times and can be tricky to navigate, but the trail is fairly well marked with signs.
