Sandpiper Montessori School

I cannot speak highly enough about this school. It started with my son at age 3, who didn’t know many words and was attending speech therapy. I was nervous he wouldn’t make friends and would have trouble learning but Ms Jackie (head school teacher) was a breath of fresh air when we first met. She was so loving, patient and kind. She encouraged us not to worry, our son immediately felt comfortable and safe, and he begged to join the kids he saw. Within 6 months, his speech had improved leaps and bounds-without staying in therapy. He is now 6 1/2 and is still thriving at the extended day kindergarten program! He knows so many things about our earth, continents, animals and culture. He used to have no interest in coloring/painting/drawing/spelling/reading. He brings home his own made up stories now, written on his own. He is allowed to be creative, which promotes enjoyment in his work. To top it off, we now send our 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old to Sandpiper Montessori as well. Each of them couldn’t wait to join their brother at school because it’s such a fun and interactive place to be. When visiting the school, I am blown away at the peace inside each classroom. Children are calm, exploring different activities on their own accord-responsibly. I asked “how do I do this at home!?” lol. All of the teachers at Sandpiper are gracious, patient and kind to the children. It feels like family at this school and we’re blessed to be a part of it. Thank you Sandpiper Staff for loving on our kids and teaching them well.

Sandpiper Montessori School has been absolutely incredible for our son. The teachers and staff are caring, responsive and have truly helped him flourish in school. I am continually impressed with the skills and independence he has gained since starting at Sandpiper. I could not imagine sending him anywhere else. He regularly exclaims “I love school!” at pickup time and I feel that says it all!

Sandpiper Montessori is an amazing school. Miss Jackie makes every child feel loved and valued. Children are continually modeled kind and nurturing behaviors. My grandson has not only learned so much, but has developed wonderful social skills and manners as well. Sandpiper has meant so much to us and I consider myself blessed to have my grandson in such good hands.

We absolutely adore this school and Ms. Jackie. I toured 9 schools and unfortunately, enrolled and left 2 before finally landing on Sandpiper - the best school in Virginia Beach. Our son instantly connected with Ms. Jackie! She also went out of her way to make sure he was comfortable until he settled in to his new school. She even sent me pictures during the day to assure me all was well. It was exactly what we needed! I still think about how lucky we are to have found this school!!! As a working mom, I have very little guilt leaving him - as I know he’s having a blast! He’s well taken care of, loved, learning, happy, experiencing nature, exploring cooking, enjoying healthy snacks, and safe. We are so grateful for Sandpiper!

Our daughter has completed 2 full school years at Sandpiper Montessori after starting right at 2 1/2 years old (earliest admission). Our family toured 3 other Montessori schools in the area before falling in love with this one. You can feel the love and kindness from the moment you walk in! I love that the school is set back from the street and it’s an entire building, like a house for them to learn practical life aside their lessons. Ms. Jackie has many years experience with Montessori teaching and genuinely loves her students. They get a lot of outside play time, voluntary yoga or soccer, take field trips, exposure to cooking/helping prepare food and get to participate in gardening! The children really develop independence from being in a place that fosters that behavior. Within a short time, our daughter was putting her shoes on/off herself and many other things with little to no assistance. Some of the staff are parents of current children attending and it really has become a “family” at the school. If this is what you’re looking for, look no further...you won’t be sorry!😊
