  I'm a Board Certified Psychiatrist and have had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Mathew Parvis at Portsmouth Naval Hospital for over 10 years. During that time he's become my number one resource for psycho-therapeutic services, whether it be for marital counseling, family therapy or in depth individual psychotherapy to address issues of depression, anxiety, trauma or the sometimes painful challenge of day to day living. He has an exceptionally broad range of training and experience, however his greatest strength lies in his genuine concern for the well-being of others. I consider him to be in a league of his own and would consider anyone fortunate to have the opportunity to engage his services.

  I've been seeing James Martin for a year and a half now and my transformation has been incredible! He has taught me so many techniques and skills that I utilize every day in order to live a happy and healthy life. I really appreciate his care and understanding!

  So far counseling with Thriveworks has been a great experience! Easy to schedule, flexible schedules, and great counselor staff. They accept most insurances but also have a self pay option that actually wound up being the better option, financially, for me. Would recommend scheduling with them if considering seeking professional counseling.

  I have seen Juan for about a year now and he is hands down the best therapist I have come to know. He gives excellent insight and actually listens to his patients. He has helped me work through a very traumatic time in my life and I couldn’t be more grateful for his aid. Juan has encouraged me to consistently work towards my dreams and ambitions, and I don’t know if I would be where I am today without this guidance. He has helped me to better understand and appreciate my self in my entirety. I very highly suggest scheduling an appointment with him, definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made!
