  We visited 3 rehabilitation centers to locate the one that would be best for our Father. He is now a double amputee and is in need of a rehabilitation center to get him ready to live life. We showed up unannounced on a Saturday and they were more than happy to show us around. Even before we entered they had a full hand sanitizer outside the door! It smelled fresh and was inviting once inside.
  We got to chat with at least 4 of the residents who were laughing and out in the halls and in the sitting areas. Unlike the other facilities we visited where everyone was in bed and everyone was quiet. They all reported being happy there, satisfied with the food, and comfortable knowing that if they rang the bell someone would respond to their needs. They all said they would bring their own Mothers there.
  We also spoke to 4 employees and all of them reported being happy to work there. They were all down to earth, easy to talk to. They immediately made us feel welcome. One said we are an older place but we do everything we can to make it the best we can. We witnessed a few chatty happy moments with the staff and residents. One was a resident giving the Physical Therapist a high five as he rolled by.
  It is an older facility but was very clean. It smelled fresh and not chemically clean. Freedom is important to Gpa and they said off site trips are encouraged through PT. The other facilities were strictly no leaving whatsoever. Discovery agrees with the heart, soul and body healing process. Gpas garden visits to his home to check on his koi and pigeons are important to his healing process.
  We have definetly made the decision to use Discovery at this time. He will be entering the facility early next week and I will update this reveiw as his visit unfolds. For now.... 5 stars!

  My dad stayed here for about 2 months and ultimately passed here once his liver failure reached a certain stage. So I visited this place every day, sometimes twice a day for about 2 months and got pretty familiar with the faces and goings on here.
  
  We toured every facility in the area and chose Discovery for a few reasons. It was smaller than the other facilities and didn't feel like a hospital, both pluses in our book. Also, the long-term care wing was physically separated from the short-term care. Since my dad was in short-term care, he was given some hope that he was there to recover and not just there to die.
  
  Discovery literally seemed to bend over backward to accommodate us in every way. First of all, the RNs and CNAs here were simply amazing. Caring, warm, smiles on their faces, my dad loved them and he was hard to please. For context, my dad had a catheter, used a bed pan and had little to no mobility.
  
  My dad had a lot of odd dietary "desires" that weren't met by the meal plan at the facility. They let us bring in food items like milk and they stored them for us and served them to him when he asked for them.
  
  They even let us bring in an approved mini-fridge and ice maker into his room to store cold drinks. This was actually a pretty ridiculous request that I'm still amazed we were allowed to do. The staff was also really good about contacting me and keeping me in the loop, either when my dad was upset or when some significant medical or other milestone had occurred.
  
  Towards the end of his stay, my dad's insurance dropped him and would no longer pay for his stay at the facility. The on-site social worker jumped in and literally saved the day, finding legal recourse that prevented anyone from removing him from the facility.
  
  Finally, literally hours before he passed, the team helped him change his DNR order so that he could pass in peace. If I had it to do all over, I would pick Discovery again.
