Nordland General Store

Stopped here to check out the small Mom and Pop store which this truely is. Sue is just a sweetheart and very helpful in helping us find what we needed. They have local postcards if that is your thing to collect or send from your vacation destinations. Swing in, explore, and enjoy.

The Nordland General Store on Mystery Bay/Marrowstone Island is one of the best places for provisions from the water—a little bit of everything from hardware and cleaning supplies to fine cheeses, Cape Cleare smoked salmon, Whidbey Island Ice Cream and excellent wines that you might not find elsewhere in the islands. They also make the stop worth lingering with scads of interesting collectibles on display, rocking chairs around the wood stove to chat over a coffee, a paperback book exchange and a swing on the front porch. As grocery stops go this one is a destination. One tip—the stores dinghy float is sometimes in the mud at low tides so time your trip accordingly.

Great store, good selection, parking is incredibly limited, but the road isn't that busy so you can get creative. I parked at the "yacht club" across the street as it seemed closed.

If I could give it 10 stars I would!! I just love old country stores. The building is 100+ years old. It has squeaky wooden floors, lots of eclectic stuff on the walls and a pretty good selection of giftie stuff. For wine drinkers, there's a good selection of local wines.
The sail shop next door is worth mentioning. The gal that works there does great hand painted canvas tote bags. My wife bought one and a visiting friend bought two.
