Decent parking (no pass required at our time of visit). Great trail conditions. TRAIL GAINS ~2,000’ very quickly: you’ll get a good sweat going. (Driving to the top is an option, too!) Views from the top are beautiful. Two views, north and south, give great perspective on the whole Puget Sound. Overall about 5 miles and 3 hours around trip if you include the southern view point.

Beautiful and snowy! The two miles uphill are worth the view. Bring microspikes if you got them. The last photo is a picture of the road that you walk to get to the trailhead.

Dear gawd... This trail is nearly all vertical. I believe up to 28% grade at it's steepest. It's not a long hike, but for a person that's not in the best shape after losing 50lbs from dieting alone, I highly suggest getting a good breakfast into you and bringing a lot of liquid to get up there.

Beautiful area and vistas, but damn, pace yourself. Haha

Just went yesterday. Not a brisk hike for those of us who don’t workout, A CHALLENGE BUT SO WORTH IT. No snow, road to peak is closed, parking at the bottom for 10-15 cars maybe. Signs call it ‘cougar county’ so I recommend bringing some kind of small means of defense - knife, pepper spray, 9m, ya know.

The vertical ascent on this trail is tough. It’s just over two miles of hiking with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Strenuous to say the least. Coming down the grade is almost as challenging.

That being said, the peaceful surroundings during the hike are exceptional. The views at the top, well worth the pain. :) Be sure to check out the South View Point as well. The hike from the north to the south is an easy half-mile and the view is spectacular.

If you’re not up for the hike, there is a 4-Mile Drive that takes you up to both lookouts.
