Great trailhead with an extensive network of well maintained forested trails available. Note that a Discover Pass is required to park here, but I believe that parking along the road just outside of the Star Tiger Mountain State Park sign, where there's another trailhead you drive by on the way to this one, might not require a Discover Pass.
One big plus - no mosquitoes.
Air is magic, healing and refreshing, so I can walk forever. It's well organized, clean, and there's all information available to calculate the best road for you. It is better to come early or weekdays because local parking is not too big.
There are several trails to chose from that range from moderate to easy.
This review is for the West Tiger #3 trail.
It is constantly steep all the way to the viewpoint 3 miles. The trails are wide and are groomed enough so that double hikers can be side by side.
There are many old trees so the walk is nice.
There were many unleashed dogs along the hike but they were all behaved.
From here, the mountain is your oyster. Head west and north on the TMT, making a loop from the myriad of trails available to you, or head south on the TMT and explore the trails heading off to the east side of the mountain. WTA worked here in 2021, 2019, 2017, 2016, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010! High Point Trail.
Tiger Mountain Trail. Along the Lingering Trail. Began my loop hike from the High Point Trailhead parking lot. I took the connector trail down to SE 79th Street by the Cable Line trailhead. Walked the road to the gate, then on old Highway 10 ( Sunset Highway) by High Point Pond. This was the site of the sawmill used when railroad logging took ...
Great trailhead for many hikes. From flat hikes around the lake and the old bus to long 16 plus mile hikes over to Hobart road. The swamp trail has some educational materials to read, Tulas rock has caves and a waterfall. Tiger mountain provides great views of the surrounding area.
Hiking West Tiger 3. Seattle and the Puget Sound is known for its world class mountaineers. Though they've scaled many an international peak, many of them practiced their chops on this fairly diminutive, but close-to-town leg-burner. There are many trails which start or finish around I-90's "High Point Way" exit 20, but Tiger 3 is one of ...
The Big Tree Trail is a short (0.5 mile) trail on Tiger Mountain's Tradition Plateau. It passes one of the largest Douglas firs still standing in the Tigers, and also passes a short section of some of the best true swamp you will find in the area, with lots of hanging moss and standing water. The trail is one of several in the Tigers that do ...
