  I stopped to look at the Ballard Locks and Fish Ladder from Commodore Park in the morning. I virtually had it to myself. Although cloudy, the channel water was mirrored flat. Everything looked deep green. I also looked at a fascinating railroad trestle that can lift out of the way of ships.

  I GENUINELY love this park more than the Ballard locks (across from this park). It gives an awesome view out to Elliot bay and there are not a bunch of people pile on the other side at the locks. It has a public restrooms and little trails that allow you to go to the locks if you wanna fight the crowds, but even parking here is easier. The view of the bridge makes for awesome photos on a sunny day. Bring a coat if it is winter because the wind off Elliot bay can get a little chilly!

  A narrow, small park with a nice view of Ballard Locks. At the end of the park you'll be able to access the locks and fish ladder.
  There is a short walking path and a big green space on a slope that seems ideal to sit down and just enjoy the view of the canal and locks.

  The bridge is for trains and lifts up to allow boats through. There is a little park area with a terraced grassy hill & cement seating steps that terrace down to the water. They have a neat viewing area for the migrating salmon so you cam see them swimming underwater as well. You can also watch them operate the locks to bring the boats up to higher water levels before moving up river. Pretty cool.
