I had the most amazing home birth with Nikki and Hannah. It was everything I could hoped for. They were nurturing and attentive to my care!

I had a fantastic experience delivering my final baby at home. My others were all delivered in the hospital and the experience just does not compare! This practice is like many OB offices when it comes to having a rotation and an "on call" person - they rotate you around between the three midwives throughout your pregnancy, that way you build a relationship with all of them. Whoever is on call the week of your labor will be the one to come to help you deliver. A trainee came out for mine with Niki, and both were wonderful! They stay with you for a few hours after delivery, come back to your home for 24 hrs postpartum, then again 3 days later. You go into the office for them to check on baby at 2 weeks, then again at 6 weeks. I was told at my last appointment that postpartum depression/anxiety could pop up any time in the first year and to call them if I ever needed to talk about it and they'd help me find the resources I needed. They truly are invested in you and your baby above all!

Blood draws and urine samples take place in their office, then they're sent out to a lab; this included gestational diabetes testing. They take your blood pressure, pulse, and check baby, but there's no emphasis on weight as long as you feel you're eating enough for baby and are overall healthy. Visits are about an hour long and they extensively ask about your physical and mental well-being, along with offering actually useful advice. All 3 midwives have 4-5 children, so their tips are legit and from real life experience. They do not rush you when you get close and really take your lead in how you're feeling to let baby come when they come.

The birth itself was under $2500 for us (not including prenatal care, but they do take insurance) and I was able to use a pool through them... by the way, highly recommend!! ((Easy clean up, great pain relief, and it obfuscated things for my older children who wanted to be present)). All in all, Niki is so great, Brandy is amazing, love Kaitlyn - I would absolutely recommend to anyone who is on the fence about home birth to at least check them out!!

I had the BEST home birth experience I could have asked for! Niki, Brandy, and Katlyn are such a dynamic team of ladies. They are very friendly, wise, and passionate about what they do. I felt very comfortable with each of them and they gave me so I had confidence in my personal birth plan.

I walked into their office in the middle of my second trimester with my third baby. Niki was able to take me in, late in the game as I was, and was even covered under my insurance! Eh oh! I had always dreamed of a home birth but was too scared with #1 (first time mom syndrome) and #2 came one month early so I had to go to a hospital. Baby #3 gave me that opportunity and I am truly happy my path crossed with Niki and her team. Thank you for being a intricate part of such a special time in our family’s life! I highly recommend Gig Harbor Midwifery if you are considering a home birth!

Niki and Brandy delivered both of our children. One at Tacoma's Birthing Inn and the other at home. We knew with Niki and her team, we were in excellent hands to have our second at home. Niki and her team are professional, yet very personable. They offer evidence and experience based advice, while also respecting your wishes to make the choices best for your family. I really appreciated the calmness about these wonderful women and their unconditional encouragement. They were such an integral part of our village for the pregnancy and postpartum recovery. I wish every woman had a birthing and postpartum team in their corner like Niki, Brandy, and the wonderful students they bring aboard. If they did, families would journey through pregnancy and transition into families much easier with confidence and support.

I have given birth three times. My first two pregnancies were under OBGYN care and I birthed with epidurals in hospitals. My second birth was even an elective induction at 41 weeks. My first two births went smoothly both times. I’m really good at giving birth with epidurals/medication. My third pregnancy I chose midwifery care because I had much different goals for my prenatal care (and I figured I’d survive my delivery right?). I’m 10 days post-partum from that 3rd birth and want to know what I learned? There is no epidural in the world… that is worth missing out on prenatal care, birthing, and post-partum care with Midwife - Niki Corragio. How I wish I would’ve known before! If you’re considering a midwife, here’s what I valued so much about Niki:

    1) I’m not into birth prep. I don’t do anything for my hospital births, I don’t want to do anything for an unmedicated birth. I don’t have time to meditate or do prenatal yoga. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to cope with the “pain” during birth. My entire pregnancy Niki assured me – you don’t need to know how to birth: your body knows what to do and I will be there. I did zero mental prep for my unmedicated birth and had an incredible birth. Because birthing is what pregnant bodies are meant to do and Niki is a fantastic support & a brilliant trained professional.
    2) Niki makes space for women. I’m a bit different – I don’t like traditional prenatal vitamins, the glucose drink makes me sick… My OB’s always said “tough luck” but not Niki. Niki helped me build a custom prenatal regimen that combined my special diet + supplements I was more comfortable taking. She gave me safe alternatives because I wanted to do a gestational diabetes test of some kind. I had a lot of goals for an unmedicated pregnancy – Niki was informative. She gave me evidence-based science and let me make decisions based on that. I was able to navigate my morning sickness without medicine this time around. I met all of my personal prenatal goals with her guidance and support. My OBGYN's never even tried (and I loved them! I really did! I just had no clue I had better options!)
    3) Niki is quiet & a listener – when I was interviewing her she was professional and calm, but do not think for a second that she isn’t a 100% first class midwife. She always listened to what I wanted during my prenatal care and helped me make it happen. It felt like this magical unicorn after being with OBGYN care for so long. And during my birth she was so confident & helpful! She knew when to sit back and let me do my thing and could tell when she needed to come forward so I could ask her questions on how to process something. She was absolutely the most perfect midwife!!
    4) Niki knows her stuff. She is super smart (but doesn’t shove it in your face – I just learned it over time working with her – she knows her stuff! She helped my transition-nausea with essential oils, she had great suggestions for my iron issues even with my conditions that I needed met (I can’t take certain supplements because they make me sick). She’s just smart as a whip but so humble about it. A joy to work with.
    5) Niki’s post-partum care is AMAZING. Y’all! Don’t go back to OBGYN care – give yourself the gift of Midwifery! She always answered my texts so promptly – I never had to be anxious or worry. She comes to your house after delivery and is available via text for any questions. The Post Partum anxiety I dealt with after my second birth is non-existent this time around. GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF NIKI!!

In summary – I’m a strong-willed, type-A woman who knows what I want and didn’t realize that I was allowed to have prenatal care exactly how I wanted, gentle birthing care on my timeline, and post-partum care that was out of this world. Niki is the best thing that has ever happened to us – my husband is officially smitten with Niki & Midwifery care. I wish we would’ve found Niki a couple births ago!
