  I’m a professional musician that recently worked with The Spar for an evening of live music. They were so incredible to work with from start to finish, flexible scheduling, courteous and overall truly fantastic hospitality. They even went above and beyond and passed around a tip jar for the artists during their sets! Tips are what helps us artists afford groceries and get by, and the clear support from the staff really hit a soft spot in my heart.
  
  Also, a beautiful view of the sound, cool indoor climate, great beer, and delicious food were excellent bonuses for a night of hard work. It seemed like every patron in the bar was having a wonderful time, and it made me fall in love with our beautiful Tacoma community even more!

  Gosh what a great place to visit on a hot summer day! They had the back windows open and the Cool breeze was blowing through keeping the place nice and cool. Loved the to billiard tables were in a cove by itself and great service by the bar servers. Enjoyed 50 cent cool games with a $3 cider special on a Thursday. I didn't get a chance to try the food but I'll definitely be back. Such a great relaxing atmosphere

  Greeted right away. Kind of a dive bar/Cafe with a great view. Best House made chips I have ever had. Halibut was meaty and fresh, Not over seasoned. Price was not bad at all. Would be a regular here if I lived locally.

  I’ve been by this place so many times but never stopped in. Decided to give it a try and it was way bigger than it looked from the outside. We sat in the back and had a great view of the water. It was mid afternoon and busy. We got there right when they were setting up for a band.
  Food was pretty good. We got the cheese curds which were delicious, they were served with some cheesy garlic marinara. They’d be good with a jalapeño jelly too.
  Then we ordered a burger, French dip, and fish and chips. Everything was good but my fish and chips had a lot of breading on them. And the fish was a little tough. Overall we had a good time, the server was super nice and friendly. Came over a bunch of times to update us on our food and apologized for any delays. We will come back!
