Staircase Rapids

Very cool natural rock formations that look like giant steps. Sweeping views from the WVA side seem like a place from another time. The name for the town here was originally to be called Shenandoah Falls, although the prominence of Robert Harper's Ferry later inspired the official town name. Since the floods swept most of the buildings away that were along the Hall and Virginius Islands, what stands here is a true American village. And yes, btw, for the grammarians visiting this geological wonder, the village name is officially Harpers Ferry sans-apostrophe. Please take your apostrophes with you.
