This was our second time camping here but we don't really remember the 1st? Nice park with good hiking. Nothing crazy but still nice. Great size sites w good privacy. Lots to do in the surrounding area as well.
lake kegonsa had a wonderful dog beach and fun trails, it was a blast to go on a 4 day camping trip here. camping spots are varied with some fitting small tents while others fit two motor homes! pit toilets are stationed conveniently around the campground. the volunteer hosts are very friendly and helpful.
I love visiting this park for a quick after-work or between-errands walk through the prairie. There is a flat grassy trail area and then a trail or two through the woods, which has a couple of small hills. Every trail is well marked and numbered, so you always have an idea of where you’re going.
I found this park to be pretty quick and easy to get through. I enjoyed it and it was peaceful. I wish I would have gone on a slightly cooler day, but it didn't take too much away from the park.
A great state park for beginner hikers, dog walkers (on-leash) and kids due to the two playgrounds and sandy beach with swimming opportunities.
It certainly wouldn’t be in my list of top choices for hiking landscape and variety, elevation, or breathtaking views but it is still a nice park with plenty of flat Prairie and wooded trails. There is a pet swim area, boat launch, plenty of rudimentary camper slots, shelters, grills, and horseshoe pits. It would likely only take 2-3 hours to hike every trail and see each edge of this park.
